What if you could create a guide to help you navigate life’s challenges, celebrate your strengths, and honor your imagination?
Join artist and educator Michelle de Celia (aka Koza) for a creative journey that combines visual art, poetry, performance, and community connection. Through a series of hands-on workshops, participants will explore cultural traditions, personal symbolism, and storytelling to create a unique “spirit guide” that reflects their inner wisdom, creativity, and aspirations.
Using watercolor, collage, paper arts, jewelry-making, creative writing, and performance exercises, participants will develop an original artwork and poem inspired by their spirit guide. Along the way, Worcester-area guest artists will share their expertise and creative practices. Digi Chivetta (weeks 3 and 4) will lead visual arts explorations grounded in symbolism and interdisciplinary artmaking; Teree Thomas-Perez (weeks 5 and 6), founder of The Jewelry Co-op, will introduce jewelry-making and craft-based approaches to personal expression; Irena Kaçi (weeks 7 and 8) will guide participants through poetry and creative writing; and Karina Beleño (weeks 9 and 10) will lead performance activities that help participants bring their spirit guides to life through movement, voice, and presence. The project culminates in a public exhibition and showcase where participants can share their artwork, poetry, and creative discoveries with family, friends, and the wider community.

Guided by the rhythms of the lunar cycle, each circle offers us sacred pause to slow down, and remember our web of relationship- with ourselves, one another, and the living world.
We practice disrupting dominant narratives, deepening our listening, holding space for uncertainty, celebrating both small and big joys and grieving together- cultivating a village of liberators rooted in love, belonging, anti racism and anti oppression.

Black August Commitments Through Crafts
Join us in commemorating Black August through creativity and culture. Feel free to bring something that represents your culture, whether that's artwork, music, a dish, story, etc. and share it with our community. We’ll also be putting together handcrafts such as book binding, screen printing, collage making, and bracelet making. Revolutionary Reading - Monsour Owolabi
Thank you to all who came to this month's Revolutionary Reading! We are still thinking about our discussion & the words shared by George Jackson and hope that you are too!
Next month's Revolutionary Reading, we will be reading "Black August - The Forgotten Ones" by Monsour Owolabi. Monsour Owolabi has been wrongfully incarcerated in Texas since 2013 and has spent much of his time building and strengthening his political knowledge and perspective & building solidarity amongst others both in and beyond the prison system.
In addition to doing the reading, we encourage you to learn more about his struggle towards liberation and the work he has done in spite of his conditions. In honor of Black August, we invite you to make a financial contribution to Monsour's Legal Fund should you feel moved.

Join us to explore your creativity through crafting! We will have an easy art something waiting for you! When you are finished crafting, stay as long as you’d like and get to know others who have joined! Drop in and spend time on a project that you have been working on in the company of others. Black American Women Songwriters Concert
Even if they weren’t always given the visibility or credit that they deserved, Black Women have always been trailblazers in music. In honor of Black History Month, we invite you to join us for a community concert shining a light on the contributions made by 14 Black american Women songwriters from 1920 to 1970. With 5 incredible local musicians performing their renditions of their songs, we remember these women, the music they made, the stories they told, and the messages they left behind that are still relevant and resonant across generations. You won’t want to miss what is sure to be an amazing celebration of Black american Women songwriters!

With Black History Month just around the corner, be sure to check out The 2026 Black Community Calendar for a wide range of events designed to explore what Black freedom, expression, and culture means this year. 2026 marks the 100th year anniversary of our ancestor's, Carter G. Woodson, efforts to establish Negro History Week which would evolve into what we know of as Black History Month today.
