MISSION
The ONFK Healing Collective ensures that culturally relevant healing practices are accessible to marginalized communities by creating affordable opportunities to engage with skilled practitioners to gain the knowledge they need to reclaim their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health and well-being.
VISION
To raise our collective vibration and consciousness by empowering marginalized communities with what they need to begin or continue exploring their individual healing journey.
We strive to remind our communities that healing happens beyond solely western practices and when we center all aspects of our health we take strides towards bringing our families, our communities, our Earth, our ancestors, and the generations to come back into balance.
OUR APPROACH
Creating a space that is conducive for marginalized communities to explore wholistic wellness to oppose the notion that these healing modalities are only for wealthy people.
Empower practitioners to stand in the purpose of healing and explore how their gifts/calling can contribute to local and global movements towards healing, justice and balance.
Introduce, teach, and remind our community about practices that are pivotal to their well-being beyond the mainstream health systems that have failed our people for decades.
Shift mindsets so we may remember that these modalities are ancient, effective, sacred, and relevant to marginalized communities.
Give folks the tools they need to reclaim their power over their health.
GROUNDING & GUIDING VALUES
In a world that has been committed to devaluing, erasing, and disconnecting people from Indigenous and African ways of knowing, we are grounded in the importance of connecting healing and culture. Without fully embracing and integrating our cultural and ancestral traditions into our lived practices, deep healing cannot happen for those who have been on the receiving end of oppression. All healing offerings in the ONFK Healing Collective must acknowledge the originators of the modalities and how they were used then, as well as how they can be used in the 21st century to elevate healing.
We lean into the importance of solidarity as members of local, national, global, and human communities that are all in deep need of healing. Healing does not happen in a vacuum and those we seek to work with are shaped in beautiful and harmful ways by the world around them. We understand the need to keep fluidity in our approach so that we can meet the needs of our community as they ebb and flow through times of joy and conflict.
Creating pathways for people to explore their connection to spirit and to feel comfortable leaning into traditional ways of healing is important across the spectrum of identities. However, this space is particularly excited about centering BIPOC folks, those with limited access to monetary resources and other minoritized people as these communities have experienced and continue to experience financial, social, and cultural barriers when attempting to access healing spaces.
Our work seeks to empower people to reclaim agency over themselves and their healing journey. We want to ensure that participant and healer voices are included in our evolution. We commit to humility and responsibility. When decisions require oversight, we will lean on our vision and values and consult our Wisdom Counsel when needed.
